Ways to get cheap musical tickets26/07/10

There are a few paths to buy cheap London theatre tickets, so why not treat yourself and take in a show?

When visiting London there are a million and one things worth doing to entertain yourself. From the numerous historical buildings to visit, the museums to stroll around and the surprising gardens and parks to sit in, you’re spoilt for choice.
Then naturally there are the shops, the restaurants and the traveller attractions like the London Eye and the Dungeons. But if there’s one thing that truly makes a trip to London feel special it’s a trip to the theatre.

There are a few things quite spellbinding about going to the theatre. Walking up the electrifying staircase, maybe in an old, important building, waiting for that exciting moment when the lights dim and then finding yourself lost in the instant as the show begins.

However, the one obstacle when it comes to London theatre is the pricetag. Tickets to some of the best shows in the West End can be costly, but that doesn’t imply you’ve got to miss out.

There are a few ways in which you can get a hold of inexpensive London theatre tickets. The first is a small dodgy – booking at the very end. This strategy isn’t perfect for anyone who likes to be super-organised and plans everything all the way down to the last detail, or for anyone with a must do date for a particular show, perhaps as a birthday treat.

Basically, to get the best deals on theatre tickets you have got to wait till as late as practicable. Tickets sell out swiftly but cancellations don’t usually happen till much later and the returned tickets are often sold at a discounted price to avoid having any empty seats in the theatre.

Another methodology of getting hold of cut-price tickets involves doing quite the opposite of last-minute booking. If you purchase tickets far in advance you have a chance of getting them cheaply. London theatre tickets go on sale very early and, just like the old proverb goes, the early bird catches the worm.
